These elderly people who were once “partisans” are the last but also the first warriors of Albania. They have carried on a real fight in the historical evolution of this country. After WW2 many of them remained active in senior positions, without being able to change the communist dictatorship. In their eyes one could clearly see the disappointing result in a great fight against fascism which did not ultimately result in ‘the good life’. On the eve of May 9th, ‘Victory Day’ over fascism, they remain proud of their accomplishment in the antifascist war, but also regret that their efforts and that the blood of many Albanians went to on feed another cruel dictatorship.
